Families Sue Over Door County Explosion
A number of families have filed lawsuits over a Door County explosion where members of their families were killed or injured. A utility company, construction companies, and the resort where the explosion occurred are all being sued by the families. The explosions occurred early last July.As a result of the three explosions, which took place at the Cedar Grove Resort in Ellison Bay, two people were killed and another twelve injured, some seriously. The two killed were Patrick Higdon and his wife Margaret. Among those seriously injured were the couple’s three children.
No sum has been mentioned in terms of damages as yet, but the lawsuit was filed in federal court in Green Bay on Friday. The lawsuit alleges that the construction company cut through a propane gas line underground while beginning work, causing the explosions.
The lawsuit further alleges that the excavation project was handled negligently by the defendants, and amongst those named as defendants, as well as the resort itself, are Arby Construction, Wisconsin Public Service Corp, and Ferrellgas.
