Air Crash Victims Consider Class Action
The victims of the Air France crash in Toronto are considering a class action lawsuit, claiming that the airline has not done enough to compensate those involved in the crash. The air crash occurred at Lester B. Pearson airport, with crew and passengers escaping just before the plane went up in flames. Many of those on board state that they have been left severely traumatized by the experience.One passenger stated: "The first week, I was plagued by nightmares, difficulty in sleeping, loss of appetite and constant flashbacks. People say, 'You're going to get tons of money,' but I don't see it that way. It's such a pain and I want my old life back. I wish it had never happened, I really do. It's uncontrollable and it's a psychological disaster."
A number of passengers and their loved ones attended a recent meeting set up by Toronto lawyers. The class action suit, filed last week at the Superior Court, seeks nearly $270 million in damages. This is to cover pain, suffering, and trauma, as well as possible future medical expenses.
