Russell Crowe Settles Out Of Court Following Assault
Famously aggressive Academy Award winner, Russell Crowe, has reached an out of court settlement with a New York hotel employee after being charged with assault. The forty-one year old Australian actor was staying at the hotel in June as part of a promotion for his latest movie, Cinderella Man – in which he plays a boxer.According to reports, Crowe became angry when the hotel phone wouldn’t work properly as he tried to call his wife, actress Danielle Spenser. In a fit of rage he threw the phone at Nestor Estrada, the concierge. Although details of the settlement have not been disclosed, a lawyer for the actor stated: "Both sides expressed satisfaction at the resolution."
Following the incident, Crowe was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The actor made an apology for his actions on the David Letterman Show. He stated that the incident was "possibly the most shameful situation that I've ever gotten myself in in my life, and I've done some pretty dumb things in my life."
