Seven Fast Food Chains Sued By Doctors’ Group
Seven popular US fast food chains are being sued by a doctors’ group over allegations that they use what has been described as a ‘dangerous carcinogenic’ in one of their menu items. According to the lawsuit the fast food chains in question have been using the carcinogenic in their grilled chicken dishes.The doctors’ group that is suing the fast food chains is the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) based in Washington. The lawsuit was filed in California late last week in a bid to "compel the restaurants to warn unsuspecting consumers".
Among the popular fast food chains being sued are burger giants McDonalds and Burger King. Every sample of grilled chicken in the dishes served by the eateries showed that there was a carcinogenic compound known as PhIP present.
The president of the doctors’ group stated: "Grilled chicken can cause cancer, and consumers deserve to know that this supposedly healthy product is actually just as bad for them as high-fat fried chicken. Even a grilled chicken salad increases the risk of breast cancer, prostate cancer and other forms of this lethal disease."
