Trainers Convicted Of Racehorse Theft
Two men that worked as trainers at a horse racetrack have been sentenced after being convicted with the theft of two valuable racehorses from their stalls. The two men were each sentenced to six months in prison by a Cuyahoga County judge late last week.The two convicted men that were involved in the crime are Charles Burneson, 37, of Chippewa Lake, and John Queen, 37, of Grove City. They were convicted in May after being charged with the theft of the two horses, named Jakeman and For All You Girls.
The two horses were just four years old, and were valued at $5,000 each. Their owner had planned to donate the animals to a non-profit farm, where they would have lived as pets, for breeding, or as show horses. However, they ended up being sold at an auction for just $250 each, and were then sold on to a slaughterhouse.
Assistant County Prosecutor, Jeffrey Kocian, stated: "What we have here are two barbarians who saw nothing but meat walking around with four legs."
