Man Sues NYPD Over Hooker Arrest
A man has filed a federal lawsuit against the New York Police Department, after claiming that he was wrongfully arrested for soliciting a hooker in front of his pregnant wife. The man from Queens is seeking $14 million in damages for the arrest, stating that he had to spend 12 hours in jail, and then had to wait a further six months for the charges to be dismissed.According to 37-year-old Emeka Obi’s complaint he was "made to appear like a sexually depraved person, lost respect and dignity before family and friends and was very traumatized." The complaint has been filed in Brooklyn Federal Court.
According to Obi’s complaint he was flagged down by a woman while driving home with his wife last year. Assuming that the woman needed help or directions, Obi claims he pulled over. However, the woman turned out to be an undercover police officer.
The woman proceeded to offer sexual favors in exchange for money according to the complaint, and Obi claims that he drove away in disgust after the woman spoke to him. However, he was then booked a few blocks down by other officers.
