McDonald’s Hit By Another Lawsuit
A lawsuit has been filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against the fast food giant McDonald’s after claims that an autistic boy’s symptoms were aggravated after eating fries. The lawsuit claims that McDonald’s fries contain some sort of additive that aggravated the boy’s symptoms, and goes on to accuse the corporation of fraud, negligence, and false advertising.Damages sought as part of the lawsuit include $15,000 towards medical costs for the boy, Roman Brown. In addition to this the suit seeks a share of the profits made by the company, and this is said to be for misrepresentation and punitive damages.
The boy ate French fries at a McDonald’s branch in Valencia, and the lawsuit alleges that after he ate the fries his aggression and tantrums increased, and he was less able to take care of himself. The boy’s guardian Richard Brown filed the lawsuit after the incident took place.
The lawsuit further alleges that McDonald’s had advertised its fries as being safe to eat and not containing any gluten or casein. The lawsuit states: "In most cases, elimination of gluten and casein from an autistic child's diet results in dramatic improvements in the child's condition, often enabling the child to attend mainstream educational programs in a matter of months."
