Rite Aid Accused Of Sale Of Expired Baby Products
Rite Aid stores have been charged by state officials for the alleged sale of expired baby products. It has been claimed that the Rite Aid stores in New Jersey had been selling products such as baby formula, over the counter medications, and baby food, all of which officials state were out of date.A lawsuit has been filed by the Department of Consumer Affairs, and the lawsuit further alleges that the stores defrauded consumers by over-charging for products being sold at the stores, in addition to the charges of selling expired baby goods.
The Attorney General made a statement with regards to the matter, and said: "It is unconscionable that a store would sell expired merchandise - especially infant formula, baby food and nonprescription medications - to unsuspecting consumers who rely on these products for the care and welfare of their loved ones."
The lawsuit, which was filed late last week in state Superior Court for Union County in Elizabeth wants restitution for consumers as well as civil penalties and an order that will ensure that expired baby goods are removed from the shelves of the stores in question.
