Judge Was Warned That Suicide Boy Was Surrounded By Guns
A judge has been criticized after a twelve year old boy shot himself, because the boy was in the middle of a custody dispute in which the judge had allegedly been warned repeatedly that he was surrounded by deadly weapons. The boy fatally shot himself at his father’s home in Henderson.It is alleged that the judge was warned on a number of occasions that the boy, along with his two younger brothers, were exposed to dangerous firearms whilst in the custody of their father. The mother of the children claims that she had even video recorded the firearms at the home of the father in order to show the judge what a dangerous environment they were in.
The judge decided to give both parents joint custody because the father stated that the children were all trained in gun safety, that they came from a military family, and that the firearms were kept safe and secure.
The boy’s mother said that joint custody should never have been given by the judge in light of the information provided to her about the guns. She stated: 'Every court hearing we had, we discussed it. I had videotapes of guns laying around the house, and everyone seemed to ignore it. She screwed up. She didn't address the issue.'
