Lawsuit Filed Against Ministry Of Education
A lawsuit for up to one million dollars has been filed against the Ministry of Education by a boy that was forced to attend a local school against the wishes of his parents, and was then bullied. The boy, Daniel Anderson, is said to have been left traumatized after the bullying.Reports claim that the Ministry forced Anderson to attend the local school despite developmental learning problems that he suffered, and that the school did not cater adequately for these problems. He was forced to stop correspondence school studies, according to claims, and was made to attend the eighteen hundred student school.
Further claims allege that as a result of his learning difficulties and inadequate resources provided for the boy, he was then expelled and this, in combination with the bullying, affected his personality dramatically. A lawyer for the plaintiffs stated that the boy was not properly managed by staff.
The father of the boy said he had tried to keep him away from a school environment for his own good, hence the decision to provide a correspondence school study program for him. He added: "After he was expelled... he cried for months and months. We couldn't get him to function."
