Rapper Cleared Of Injuring Officer
Rap star Juvenile (aka Terius Gray) has been cleared by a jury of injuring an off duty police officer after the officer filed a lawsuit against him. Melissa Huxley-Bujeda filed the lawsuit in 2003, and claims that the rapper was responsible for an injury to her knee during an incident that occurred in 1999.The lawsuit claimed that the incident occurred at the Regency Square Mall, and the officer claims that she was trying to break up a fight involving Juvenile when the injury occurred. According to the suit, the rapper and his group were asked to leave because of their language and the way they were dressed.
The lawsuit further claims that the officer was then called to the scene, and during a scuffle to remove the group and retrain the rapper her knee was injured. The rapper was arrested for resisting an officer with violence as well as for breach of the peace, but the charged were later dropped.
However, after the officer filed her lawsuit, as part of the investigation it was discovered that she had suffered many injuries to the knee as a youngster, and that she suffered from degenerative arthritis. The jury therefore found the rapper not guilty of liability for the injury.
