Civil Lawsuit Filed Over Fire
A civil lawsuit has been filed in relation to a fire that occurred at a home for the mentally ill, resulting in the death of ten people. This is the first lawsuit resulting from the incident that took place at the Missouri home, and the lawsuit claims that the group that runs the home, along with the owner of the home, were negligent.The lawsuit has been filed in McDonald County Court by the parents and the wife of nineteen year old Glen Taff, and the family are claiming for wrongful death. According to the lawsuit the owner and operating group of the Anderson Guest House failed to install a sprinkler system or fix wiring that was faulty.
The fire took place late last month, and Taff, who provided care at the home, was one of ten people that lost their lives as a result of the incident. Many people were also injured during the incident, one of which was Taff’s wife.
With regards to the owner and the operator of the home, the lawsuit states: “Mr. Dupont and River of Life had a duty to ensure that the premises of the Anderson Guest House were free of dangerous conditions, including but not limited to the defective wiring and the lack of a sprinkler system.”
