Hotel Owners Sued Over Profiting From Illegal Activity
Two Tenderloin hotel owners, who were accused of allowing illegal activity on the premises and profiting from the activity, have been sued by the city on behalf of the tenants from the hotel. According to the tenants and the lawsuit, drug dealing and prostitution were among the activities permitted on the premises by the owners.Those named as defendants in the lawsuit, which was filed late last week by the city, include Kishor and Rasik Parmar, who are the owners of the America Hotel, Post St., and also Israjupin “Sage” Patel, who is the manager there. According to the lawsuit the hotel is “well known in the community as a place where illegal drugs are sold and distributed since 2004.”
The city attorney stated: “The law-abiding tenants of this hotel have been victimized by prostitution and drugs in the building and this has been tolerated by management for too long. Our office wants to protect the community from threats to the health and safety of residents.”
Tenants tipped off authorities with regards to the illegal activities that were taking place at the hotel. One of the owners has stated that the business was leased to the manager, and that he was unaware of the lawsuit.
