Man Sues Company Over Drug Coated Stents
A man from West Palm Beach County is suing Johnson and Johnson, as well as a subsidiary of the company, over drug coated stents that were inserted into his arteries. According to the plaintiff, the company failed to provide any warning over the possible complications that could arise as a result of using the stents.According the reports released by the Food and Drugs Administration, people that have drug coated stents inserted into the arteries as opposed to the bare metal variety could face a small risk of blood clotting. Forty six year old Sean O’Shea stated that he was not warned of these complications and claimed that Johnson and Johnson were aware of the risks prior to the reports released by the FDA.
The stents were implanted in his arteries after he suffered a heart attack. He alleges that he started to suffer chest pains after the surgery, and may now be taking medication for the rest of his life.
O’Shea spoke at a news conference recently, stating: “Had I known there would have been this many complications, I would have chosen other options. I'm upset that I was deceived. I feel that I was lied to.”
