Olivia Newton John Files Lawsuit Against Universal
Star of the 1970s hit movie Grease, Olivia Newton John, has filed a lawsuit against Universal, claiming that she is owed royalties from the soundtrack to Grease.The star has sued Universal Music in a bid to get the company to pay up on royalties that she claims she is due from the hit soundtrack. According to Newton John she is owed more than one million dollars in royalties from Universal, and she has therefore filed a lawsuit against the company alleging breach of contract.
According to Olivia Newton John, she did work on the 1978 soundtrack, but the music company failed to pay up on the royalties that were due to her as a result of the work that she did.
According to a lawyer working on behalf of Newton John in this case, Universal Music did make a number of royalty payments to the star for work done on the soundtrack, but that the company failed to make payment on a number of other contractual obligations.
