Dismissed Police Sergeant Filed Lawsuit
A lawsuit has been filed by a dismissed police sergeant who claims to have been fired as the result of gender discrimination. The lawsuit was filed by Barbara Skrycki against both the police department and Chief Paul Frazier after she was dismissed from her post around two years ago. The lawsuit alleges sexual discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.In response to the lawsuit Chief Paul Frazier stated: “I expected this because this is the route that employees who are terminated usually take. I have never discriminated against anyone, and I feel that if you speak to any member of this department, they will tell you that is the case.”
The ex-sergeant claims in her lawsuit that a number of senior officers including Chief Frazier engaged in “a pattern and practice of discriminatory practices against women, including but not limited to sexual harassment; denial of training and other opportunities; disparate discipline and other disparate treatment; violation of the department’s own sexual harassment policy; and the creation and maintenance of a working environment hostile to women police officers.”
However, Frazier responded: “I feel very comfortable in defending any and all of her charges. The insurance company that represents Braintree feels very comfortable with our position, as do the lawyers who are representing the town and me.”
