Doctor Being Sued For Sexual Assault
A psychiatrist from Baltimore County is being sued by a woman that claims she was raped by him while under sedation. Dr. Nelson H. Hendler had been suspended after allegations that he had been trading drugs for sex. He is the founder and medical director of the Mensana Clinic in Stevenson.According the court papers, the woman, who remains unnamed, began seeing the doctor in 1995 following back surgery. Hendler was then known for his work with pain management, and as part of her treatment the woman was given injections that made her unconscious.
The court reports also allege that the woman thought that the injections were for her pain, but that the doctor actually raped her when she lost consciousness as a result of the injections.
The lawsuit goes on to claim that on one occasion the woman regained consciousness and tried to fight the doctor off, but he continued to rape her. The lawsuit claims that the woman has now become dependant on the drugs, and is also suing for emotional distress. The lawsuit seeks fifty thousand dollars in damages.
