Former Dean Files Federal Discrimination Lawsuit
A former university dean has filed a federal discrimination lawsuit, claiming that he was fired from his job because he is black. Lee Jones, who was the former dean at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater was fired for financial mismanagement, but claims that he was really fired because of his skin color.The former dean goes on to state that during an audit he was unfairly singled out and criticized. He claims that he was humiliated, his career left in ruins, and his job and income were taken away from him as a result of being targeted in this way.
However, officials from the university have denied the allegations of racism, and state that Jones’ brought his dismissal upon himself. The university claims that during his one year at the university the former dean refused to comply with rules and regulations with regards to financial management.
The lawsuit was filed last month, and the lawsuit stated: “No reasonable person could have been expected to withstand the hostile, demeaning, humiliating, and discriminatory treatment to which Dr. Jones was subjected by the defendants.”
