Lawsuit Filed On Behalf Of Transgender Woman Over Job Offer
A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a 26-year-old transgender woman, claiming that a job offer that had been made to her was subsequently withdrawn after it was discovered by the employer that she was a transgender. The job was with a Houston based medical imaging company.According to the details of the lawsuit, the woman, Izza Lopez, applied for the job with the River Oaks Imaging and Diagnostic in September 2005. The details state that after sending in an application, Lopez was invited for interview and completed the necessary drug and background tests.
Following the tests and interview Lopez was apparently asked to start work at the company as soon as possible being offered the job in October 2005. She then gave her notice in at the company where she was working at the time of the job offer.
However, Lopez then received a phone call a couple of weeks before she was due to commence employment at River Oaks, and was told that the job offer was being withdrawn because they believed that she had misrepresented herself as a female.
