Lawsuits Filed Over Denial Of Resident Alien Applications
A lawsuit has been filed against the Department of Homeland Security's Bureau of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services by two Filipino women and one Chinese woman, all of whom are married to citizens from the United States. The lawsuit was filed recently after the three women were refused resident alien status in the United States.Also named on the lawsuit that was filed by the women was Robert M. Cowan, director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services National Benefits Center. The suit was filed on behalf of Mabel Angey, Eufrocina Lee, and Honghua Borja, by counsel Danilo Aguilar.
The lawsuit has been filed with the US District Court and asks for the courts to look into issuing a ruling that would enable their status to be adjusted to make them resident aliens of the United States. They are also asking for damages, legal fees, and court costs to be reimbursed.
The attorney acting for the three women stated: “As a result of this denial, each plaintiff has been denied the ability to obtain their resident alien cards, preventing them from being able to travel in and around the U.S.”
