Often, a dull ache can follow a period of acute pain, which is a sharper type of pain that tends to start in a particular area before spreading.
There are other types of pain that can affect those with diseases, illnesses, or injuries, such as chronic pain and breakthrough pain, but acute pain differs in that it is usually an intense and sharp pain that gives a stabbing sensation. Acute pain can be described as a pain that results from direct damage to tissue, but this type of pain can usually be relieved with the right type of treatment or medication.
Acute pain can also range from mild to severe but always starts at a central point where injury or tissue damage has been sustained before spreading. Although treatment for mesothelioma can often cause acute pain, and treatment administered for the acute pain can cause other side effects such as nausea and vomiting, it is important for those suffering from regular bouts of acute pain to seek advice and treatment from their doctors to learn how to properly control and manage their pain.
