Stress, anxiety, and nerves can result in nausea, as can certain medications, treatments, and illnesses. This is a sensation where you feel as though you are going to vomit, coupled with a feeling of discomfort and pain in the stomach area. Nausea can be accompanied with a range of other unpleasant effects, depending on the cause.
Sufferers of serious illness, such as cancer, experience nausea, and often the treatments that are given for cancer, such as chemotherapy, result in nausea, which is a side effect of the treatment. Uncontrollable vomiting can accompany nausea, or it can remain as a strong sensation that you are going to vomit. Although many cancer drugs do cause nausea, researchers are working on finding drugs that may reduce the feeling of nausea.
There are medications available that are designed to treat the symptoms of nausea, and these are collectively known as anti-emetics. There are a number of anti-emetic drugs available, and these can be administered in different ways. These can help to ease the symptoms, so that patients suffering from nausea do not feel sick all of the time.
Those who suffer from nausea for whatever reason can also take steps to try and reduce the feeling of sickness and discomfort. Your diet can affect this condition, and you should also avoid forcing yourself to eat. Portion control is also important when it comes to eating, as is taking some time to relax.
