Medications should have warning labels that warn consumers about the possible side effects so that the consumer can more effectively determine whether to take the medication or whether to discuss an alternative with their doctor.
Among the common side effects that are often associated with a range of medications and treatments, you will find dry mouth, headaches, dizziness, stomach upsets, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, and aching. However, side effects can be barely noticeable with some medications, and with others, they can be downright dangerous and even prove deadly, as many realized following the recent discoveries about the side effect of cox-2 inhibitors, which included heightened risk of heart attack.
When a patient is due to go onto a new medication or receive new treatment, the doctor will normally offer advice on the possible side effects, and it is important to take note of these. You should also seek medical advice if the side effects start to cause real problems, as there may be alternative treatments available or treatments to ease the side effects.
